Skating Away

I quote one of my favorite Tull songs, "Skating away on the thin ice of a new day." I find this phrase, which could also make a clever Haiku, quiet appropriate as I look out my home office window and see the once ice covered lake showing thin layers and cracks, like vericose veins on Mother Earth's legs.

2010 is winding down as 2011 is winding up...which begs to ask the question...are you winding down...or are you winding up? Either way, you must skat away on the thin ice of a new day. Are you content to fall through and drown in whatever excuses you manufacture for your current condition....or are you "balls to the wall" as you manuever expertly through the cracks and thin layers of life, excited to take on yet another challenge?

The song goes on, "one day you'll wake up in the Present Day ---a million generations removed from expectations of being who you really want to be."

Lace those skates up and conquer the new day as you become who you really want to be!

  1. Sir Hook,

I needed a good kick in the butt with a sharp skate -- this is it.

War Child was one of the first three albums I ever owned (received as a Christmas present 36 years ago).

As Ian reminds us: Life is a long song, but the tune ends too soon for all of us.

Get out and create the day you want it to be!

  3. Ian Anderson is my idol! I love his twisted lyrics. At least I was not..."Sitting on a park bench...eying little girls with bad intent!" 'Snot was running down my nos'e though after coming back to the cold Midwest!! haha.

Hope he is still making millions with his fish processing plant in UK....what a trip he is!

I for one am not skating on the thin ice...but using my Yellow Submarine to search the depths for a 2011 worth emerging into!

    Happy New Year to all!

We drove in from FL on Sunday morning at 3:00 am....TG for 5 Hour Energy drinks!

  4. One of Sir B's and my first dates was to stop by a local skating rink ~ 31 years ago we were willing to hop on the ice in our shoes and go skidding away!

The picture here is Sir B enjoying an Ian Anderson concert we went to in November at Hard Rock in Orlando ~ quick weekend to FL before the holiday got busy.
Kind of funky lighting, or maybe it was the drink?!
