The Year of the Colts...not!

Well, I'm sure Sir Hook and all Colts fans are very disappointed with the results of the game last night. The Colts, after winning their final nine regular-season games to make the playoffs, overcame a four-point halftime deficit before losing a late lead in a 23-17 overtime loss to the San Diego Chargers (9-8) in an AFC Wild Card Playoff game last night. Ouch!

Robert Gauthier, Los Angeles Times
Reserve tailback Darren Sproles, who rushed for 105 yards and had 328 all-purpose yards, is lifted by lineman Mike Goff after scoring on a 22-yard run in overtime to defeat the Indianapolis Colts, 23-17, on Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium.

So, this is definitely not the Year of the Colts. Still, a great season for the team from Indiana.

The Indianapolis Colts are lead by a very impressive coach Tony Dungy. He was one hell of an NFL player and now an outstanding coach. He's also an inspiring human being. He's written two best selling books, “Quiet Strength,” and “Uncommon.”

Here are a few quotes from Coach Dungy that we can take away from the loss yesterday and take into 2009 and beyond:

"The first step toward creating an improved future is developing the ability to envision it. VISION will ignite the fire of passion that fuels our commitment to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to achieve excellence. Only VISION allows us to transform dreams of greatness into the reality of achievement through human action. VISION has no boundaries and knows no limits. Our VISION is what we become in life."

"It's about the journey--mine and yours--and the lives we can touch, the legacy we can leave, and the world we can change for the better"

"No excuses. No explanations."

  2. I was having plenty of "visions" last night in Atlanta while watching the Colts demise. Visions of someone breaking the legs of the Charger's Punter and that Little S.O.B. running back Sproles!

Obviously Coach Dungy would not approve of my visions, even though they were fueled by "whatever it takes" to win!

That's how we played "Mules" football in Fairfield, IL. If we were going to lose we would see how many guys we could send to the ambulance waiting on the sideline.

We were nasty S.O.B.'s, but what do you expect from the home of the Shelton Gang and Blackie Harris?! (Sir D, we'll have to explain this to you in July).
