United Through Our Diversity

I was reading a recent article in Newsweek about how the American political environment has become so polarized between the right and the left. It seems to me that this is not only an American problem, but a fundamental problem throughout the world. Moderate has become a "nasty" eight letter word in our human society. We still are the majority, but somehow we've lost our voice between right-wing, holier than though FOX News and Radio Talk Show enthusiasts and flag burning, poster making, atheist chanting, "whatever" rights groups. The fundamental problem is fundamentalism! And that is not the exclusive property of the religious right. I remember how I thought it was stupid in college that just because you belonged to a certain group you had to believe a certain way. I pledged a fraternity where everyone was supposed to be preppy. I roomed with an art major, whose friends were above keg parties while they smoked their joints in black light rooms talking about how superior they were. I decided to dress like an art major at my fraternity parties and wear my "Greek" uniform proudly to the art parties. Bottom line, we need each other to function as a whole! So, get over how superior you think you are and embrace those who you perceive to be either above or below you. You just might see how this great country was founded, how cross culture connections formed our world, and how great life can really be! As a Knight of Moleskine, Spirit and Ale, I am proud that we believe that we are Free to Create Without Judgement and that we are Unified Through Our Diversity! May God save the open minded and moderate thinkers of this world!

  1. Imagine walking into your favorite pub and having but one choice of beer. Yes, we all have different tastes.

The world would be a better place is we all practice that old saying, "Mine is not a better way, mine is merely a different way."
