The Dome

This is the monastery Church of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand, Indiana. They market it as "The Dome". It's a beautiful Church atop a hill overlooking the fertile fields and forests of Southern Indiana.

I went to "The Dome" yesterday to seek permission to shoot my excerpt of Paula Coelho's book, The Witch of Portabello, for the HP Contest that I have been selected to participate in.

The meeting went very well, seeing that the sister's here are very open minded and non-judgmental. I have often come to this place, about a 40 minute drive from my house towards Louisville, to seek peace, answers and the presence of God in my life. I was not disappointed yesterday.

Monday I received a post from the sisters. It said that when you hear the bells of "The Dome" know that we are praying for you. As soon as I read it the bells of my Grandfather Clock began singing its Westminster Chimes!

After the meeting yesterday, I was invited to join the sister's in their Evening Vespers as part of the Liturgy of the Hours. I sat in the back, where I took this picture during the service, and soaked in the Spirit of the Place. It began by the chiming of the bells outside and segued into the angel voices in unison singing the Psalms and Prayers. The sun came through a window of "The Dome" and it's rays hit only me in this magnificent place of worship. I felt it a sign of success, the warmth of God's peace in this place, and a refreshing stop during a busy day.

The video will be completed at the end of May and will be posted on You Tube. I will write more about it in future blogs.

Peace!
Sir Hook of Warrick

  1. It sounds as if you were in a very beautiful place -- and not just the building.

I look forward to the video and seeing you (all of us) on this fascinating journey we're on.
